Just as the Nixon Administration accused the probe of the Watergate investigation to be politically motivated, we are seeing the same response by the White House and the State Department calling Congressional hearings a political circus.

[...] (3) How can the greatest military power in the world not muster some military help and leave over 30 Americans to fend for themselves while under attack for nine hours?

Isn't it the administration's responsibility to proactively answer all the questions and give the American people the feeling of complete transparency?

The News-Times, like most of the mainstream media, continues to protect the Obama administration and play politics instead of reporting on the news.

The choice on the town side is getting the services you deserve for your tax dollars, things like better economic growth, good roads, reasonable fees, buildings in good repair, and responsive town employees.

All that has been studied and learned about that tragic event said a "safe school climate" and early professional intervention with children showing signs of trouble were far more impactful than the broad range of solutions some school districts were considering, i.e. metal detectors, bullet-proof glass, armed guards, etc.

The reinstatement of a school psychologist dropped five years ago in the height of the economic recession; the addition of a third ROTC instructor (required by the Department of Navy based on the number of students participating in this unique program); and the move of a part-time high school reading specialist to full time to help struggling readers develop this basic learning skill are coincident progressive and necessary changes in the quest for a safer, more secure learning environment in Bethel schools.

Compared to other so-called advanced countries, the U.S.A. has a high rate of private gun possession and a high crime rate.

There are a number of reasons why the U.S.A. has such a high rate of violence and death by guns.

Since we are so prone to violence by guns, it might be well if guns were not so readily available in our society.

Considering childless women, the death of a child or mother, missing children, children in war zones, adoption, abortion, estrangement, etc., Mother's Day is often sad for numerous women.

Yearly, sad feelings are evoked by media coverage and advertising in women, especially ones who have had recent loss or have a very sick child.

In absence of a mother, a random kindness, a greeting, flower, prepaid coffee or a smile can be directed to women.

The Second Amendment ensures such rights to a state's militia, and not a federal army.

Today we have revolver, rifle, semiautomatic, and machine gun.

All who insist on not changing the amendment nor its interpretation, will need to consider if a state armory is legal, it says: A well regulated Militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

If it applied to all "people," we'd need to amend it tomorrow, before some "people" get a hold of an antiaircraft missile, or heat-seaking, shoulder-fired antitank missiles.
