Kent EMT open house planned
KENT -- Kent Volunteer Fire Department will conclude Emergency Medical Services Week with a free open house from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the firehouse at 28 Maple St.
Emergency medical technicians will be on hand to show the gear they use on calls, demonstrate how patients are placed on a backboard, and provide tours of the ambulance. They will also take blood pressure readings.
Firefighters and rescue personnel will give demonstrations of the department's Hurst tools, also known as the "jaws of life."
Lifestar and Lifenet helicopters have been asked to attend and are expected between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
Refreshments, including hot dogs and drinks, will be served. The public is welcome.
